Kennesaw, Georgia: Film Aid International Enlists Help for Outdoor Movies in Refugee Camps

  • Humanitarian & Community

Nocturne Productions, a provider of high-brightness projection and LED displays for concert tours worldwide, donated Barco high-performance projectors to FilmAid International for its mission in Afghanistan. FilmAid -- a non-profit that brings outdoor film screenings to refugees -- used the equipment for pilot screenings in Kabul, reaching Afghan orphans and street children.

“With their donation, FilmAid was able to provide some extraordinary experiences for Afghan orphans and street children during our pilot screenings in Kabul,” said Deborah DeWinter, FilmAid's Executive Director. “As a result, FilmAid has been able to share the story of our work all across the country at events to raise awareness of the global refugee crisis.”

Beyond Afghanistan, FilmAid screens films on HIV/AIDS awareness, hygiene, reproductive health, human rights, conflict resolution, and landmine awareness -- alongside non-violent family films -- in refugee camps in Africa, the Balkans, and other conflict-affected regions.
