Open Air Screen Make Outdoor Film Screenings Possible on Pangea Day

Pangea Day — May 10, 2008 — linked venues in Cairo, Dharamsala, Jerusalem, Kigali, London, New York City, Ramallah, and Rio de Janeiro in a single four-hour program of films, speakers, and music, broadcast simultaneously via internet, television, digital cinemas, and mobile phones.

In Kigali, Rwanda, the event was held beneath an Open Air Cinema inflatable screen, drawing thousands of viewers watching the same films and hearing the same voices as audiences across seven other cities. Pangea Day was organized by filmmaker Jehane Noujaim, and paired screenings with links to organizations working on the challenges depicted in each film.
