5 Projector trends at CES 2020

This year at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada (CES 2020, January 7-10) major projector manufacturers focused on the Ultra Short Throw segment, LED, Laser Lamp technology and UHD resolution.

1- Ultra Short Throw projectors are still pricey and only good for screens up to 150”

The most affordable one in 4K UST class, the VAVA VA-LT002, has Android onboard, supports high contrast content HDR10 and retails at $2,799.99

VAVA 4K Projector creates up to 150'' image at 7 inches away from the screen, which is only sufficient to cover the smallest Open Air Cinema 9 ft screen. 6,000 lumen light source claimed by the manufacturer is only up to 2,500 lumens in ANSI standard.

2- Elite Screens announced their branded UST projector in November and presented at CES

Elite Screens showed two projector models - the most interesting one is the battery powered MosicGO Sport MGFU-S - 1080p Ultra Short Throw - unfortunately it’s only 1,000 lumens bright.

3- ViewSonic followed the common trend and presented two UHD projectors in their X series for Home Entertainment

ViewSonic X100-4K and X1000-4K - CES 2020 Innovation Award Honoree are both 4K Ultra HD (3840x2160) and can be operated with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, out of the box.

4- Most eye-catching device at the Panasonic CES booth was PT-RQ50K large venue laser projector

PT-RQ50K is considered to be the smallest and lightest in weight in the 50,000 lumen class

5- At CES 2020, Epson demonstrated their recently announced EF-100 projector

Priced at $999 Epson EF-100 has a 2,000 ANSI lumen light source and the included Android streaming HDMI dongle. Projector display technology is 3LCD which is not typical for the Home Entertainment Class.
